Medical aesthetics
Treated by a clinician. Never sold to.
Most people arrive having been quoted before they were examined. We do it the other way round, and a good number of consultations end with us recommending nothing at all.
Standing rules
What we will not do.
- No packagesNothing is sold in courses of six. Aesthetic medicine bought in bulk is medicine bought before it was indicated, and it is the single clearest sign that a clinic sells rather than treats.
- No commissionNo one here is paid more for treating you than for sending you home. That is unusual in this industry and it is the reason the consultation can be honest.
- No treatment on the first visitYou are examined, told what we think, and given a written plan. You leave and consider it. Anyone willing to inject you within an hour of meeting you is not being careful with you.
- No before-and-after wallPhotographs of other people's faces are chosen to sell, taken under controlled light, and tell you nothing about your own skin. We will show you clinical photography relevant to your case, in the room.
- No treating what does not need treatingThe most common outcome of a Northlight consultation is a skincare change and a review in six months. It is also the least profitable, which is rather the point.
The consultation
Forty-five minutes, with a clinician, before anything is quoted.
We take a history, examine the skin under standardised light, and talk about what is actually bothering you — which is frequently not the thing you booked to discuss. You then receive a written plan, in order of priority, including the things we think you should not spend money on yet.
If what you want is not something we think is wise, we will say so plainly and explain why. If it is reasonable but we are not the right clinic, we will tell you who is.

Enquiries
Consultation first. Always.
There is a fee for it, and it is deducted from any treatment you later decide to have. We charge for it because it is the medicine; the treatment is only the execution.
